10 Simple Ways To Feel Good Instantly

"simple ways to feel good"I’m quite into affirmations and positive thinking to help me feel good at the moment. This picture is from the official website of the movie The Secret and shows some great positive self-talk that you can try. If you click on it you’ll be able to read it properly.

Me, I go through phases where I journal and ‘manifest’ daily and then other phases where I decide I don’t have time for that sort of hoo-ha, and ‘what is it really achieving anyway‘.

Funnily enough, if I look at it objectively, I have to admit that things seem to be – smoother when I take time to contemplate and to focus on what I want in life; what’s important. Perhaps you’ve noticed this effect in your own life?

Anyway, affirmations and mantras and the like are certainly one way to feel good about yourself and your life pretty quick-smart, but here are some other ways. If you’re not into the hoo-ha you’ll like these 🙂

And if you are – why then you simply have more options!

1. Move more.

Out of your gym routine and can’t seem to escape the blahs? Commit to 3 x 20-minute workouts this week. Stop the ‘analysis paralysis’ and just. do. it. You know you’ll feel better. Go on, schedule them in your diary now. If you’re already training, move more anyway! Do a 10-minute body weight circuit first thing on rising, or 10 minutes of yoga before bed. More movement = lower insulin = more fat burnt and a happier and more energised you.

2. Take 5 minutes to be mindful.

This just means do nothing but breathe and focus on your body and your surroundings. Observe. Be fully engaged in where you are, how you feel, what you smell and so on.

3. Change your routine.

Go a different way to work, buy coffee somewhere different, talk to someone you normally wouldn’t. You get the idea.

4. Change your eating routine.

Normally eat 5-6 small meals a day? Try holding out a little longer, listening to your body, paying attention to when you are truly hungry and (dare I say?) what you truly feel like eating. You may just surprise yourself.

5. Phone somebody you love and tell them so.

Tell them why you appreciate them, and thank them for being an important part of your life.

6. Practice gratitude.

Writing a grateful list before bed, or when you get up, is an excellent way to ‘frame’ your day, and over time it trains your mind to look for opportunity as well as the good in things.

7. Resist a craving!

Simple, but effective. There’s nothing like going to bed feeling proud of yourself for overcoming a temptation that has, perhaps, lately become a daily habit. I’m sure you can think of something that relates to you 🙂

8. Make a beautiful water cocktail.

I’m thinking sparkling mineral water (a good brand, stored in glass), two halves of a fresh lime squeezed in and some mint leaves. Maybe a piece of super super dark chocolate on the side? Do NOT eat it close to bedtime!

9. Stop reading Facebook for a day, and if you dare, have a full techno-detox for a day.

Use the added mind-space to read, to catch up with a friend, to go for a walk in nature or just to, well, be. After all, it’s good to be you.

10. Smile, breathe, and go slowly.
