You Don’t Have to Do It All

Focus-woman

Something I think we all need to be reminded of now and again –

You don’t, you know, have to do it all in order to succeed.

Or in order to be enough.

Or in order to achieve your dreams.

It’s so easy to get caught up in this drive for MORE. But imagine if you knew you were only able to achieve one thing this year –

How easy would it be to suddenly let go of everything else, everything you thought was a ‘must’, everything that suddenly pales in comparison to that one thing? I don’t mean it would be easy to completely give up those other dreams; just that that ‘one thing’ would seem instantly obvious, most of the time.

What’s your one thing? If you KNEW, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you could only achieve one thing this year, what would you chase? What would you give your all for; your very life for?

For me it would be fulfilling my dream of becoming recognised and successful (happy, profitable, making a difference in thousands of lives) as a success coach. Someone who helps women get clear on their business and life dreams, get over the emotional and mental blocks which would hold them back, and implement a strategic plan for achieving those dreams.

Yes, I also want to publish several books this year.

Yes, I also want to get back into awesome pre-baby body shape.

Yes, I want to travel overseas with my family.

Yes, I want to carry out my entire 2014 marketing calendar for all 3 of my brands not just for my Dream Life brand which relates to my role as a success coach.

But my #1? That’s my one big dream, plain and simple.

And here’s the thing about creating YOUR dream business and life, and living 100% on your terms.

You can’t have it all.

You really can’t.

It SUCKS to say that, because you know I am ALL about achieving all of your dreams and then some. But achieving your true dreams is not the same as achieving everything you possibly could do or would want to do and everything on your list. Is it?

Let’s be honest here. If your ‘dream/must do/wanna do list’ for this year is enough to daunt even Oprah you have to consider the possibility that you’re simply not crystal clear on what you REALLY want and so therefore you’re planning a lot of stuff you THINK you want in the hopes that if you’re busy enough, if you ACHIEVE enough, some of it will make a difference on a deep level.

Perhaps you think you have to do all that stuff in order to make enough money.

Or in order to make enough of a difference.

Or is it just that you’re constantly trying to prove that YOU are enough?

Let’s play devil’s advocate then. ‘Cause I know you might be thinking ‘but Kat, I really CAN do all of that! I’m always that busy; I even enjoy it!’

Okay. Cool.

But tell me –

Is your ‘one day dream life’ picture really one where you’re always that busy?

Or do you dream of one day being able to slow down? Just a tad. And spend more time with your family, your loved ones, maybe even some downtime just by yourself?!

Hmmm.

🙂

Trust me, I know what it’s like to want to do it all. I also believe that you CAN if you really want to … but only if you’re willing to do it at the expense of living your dream life now.

Is your dream to go, go GO 24/7?

Or is it to do what matters, what TRULY matters?

If you really can’t think of what your ‘one big thing’ is, there’s a good chance you’re so caught up in DOING that you have lost sight of who you really want to BE. There’s a good chance you’ve created an entire identity around you as this busy and ‘successful’ person who has forgotten how to listen in to what she really wants and needs. Who has long not checked in with her values, with what’s really important, with how she could live that ‘one day’ life now.

I’ve been there. And I can tell you – that race, that constant PUSH to be enough? You’ll never win. Because it never ends!

I urge you, if this is you, to stop.

And to consider that this year your ‘one big thing’ maybe, just maybe, is this –

Spend some time, just a little, figuring out how to be you. It may be the toughest thing you do all year. But certainly, also –

The most important.
