Success Is A Habit, Not A Choice
It’s not enough to believe you’re incredible, you have to act it!
Do you believe in the power of positive thinking?
Have you ever read a self -help book by one of the great motivational speaker’s of our time? Better yet, ever been to one of their seminar’s? Guys like Anthony Robbins, Brian Tracy, Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar, Robert Kiyosaki, Wayne Dyer, Richard Carlson, Michael Gerber .. these guys know success inside out. They live it, they breathe it, in fact I’m pretty darn sure that if you Wiki’d success you’d see a mugshot of at least one, if not all of the above thought leaders.
More locally in Australia we’ve got Dominique Bertolucci, Matt Church, Samantha McDonald, Jan Elsner – these are just off the top of my head. The list could go on and on. Clearly, there is a need for people who can motivate and help build self-belief.
And I love their stuff. Love it! I’ve invested plenty of money on audios, books and seminars that really do nothing except reinforce the idea that I can ‘do it’. Whatever it may be. This is not money down the drain. In fact, I highly recommend you do the same. A positive mindset works. No question. As Steven Covey says –
Sow a thought, reap an action
Sow an action, reap a habit
Sow a habit, reap a character
Sow a character and you’ll reap your destiny
You should really think about this (no pun intended!) The power of your mind is a truly incredible thing. In fact, the notion that you have the ability to control your success purely through your thoughts and perceptions is actually a little terrifying. But it’s also exciting, isn’t it? You can, in fact, ‘choose your own adventure’. You have the ability to choose whether you fail or succeed, are impoverished or loaded, look amazing or feel like rubbish. No buts, no ifs. Show me an excuse, and I’ll show you story after story of people who have overcome similar or worse adversity.
But here’s the catch.
There ain’t no point being success minded without the follow through. ‘I think I can, I know I can’ will only get you so far. To reap an action from a thought, to create that destiny you dream of, you actually gotta get moving. Working. Compromising. Maybe even suffering a little. Nothing good comes easy, but what would success be if you had it all along?
You need to ‘sow action’ day in and day out in order to succeed. You can choose your destiny every day in your head, you can believe you are capable and know that you’ve got incredible potential, but unless you actually do something, you’re not going anywhere.
So what are you doing today to create your success? To achieve your Body Incredible? What did you do yesterday? What will you be doing tomorrow? The day after? Next week? The week after that? If you don’t know exactly, but you can guarantee you’ll be doing something, then success is yours.
If you’re worried that –
- You’re too busy
- You’re too tired
- You’re getting your period
- The kids/partner/family has to come first
- Your boss won’t get off your back
- You don’t know what the next step is
– then you might as well just quit now. The most successful people I know are those who just do what it takes day in and day out. They workout because it’s a habit, it’s part of their life. It doesn’t matter if they’re busy or tired, or if their house just fell down. It’s just what they do. They eat well at least 80% of the time. Even if they get home late at night they still eat ‘real food’ and prepare their lunch for the next day. They hit the markets on the weekend even if they’d rather be catching their favorite show or sleeping in. They say no to dessert most of the time, even if it means they have to watch others indulge. It’s just who they are.
So who are you? What are the habits you’ve been creating over the past days, weeks, months and years that have led you to where you are now?
The best type of self-help is the one where you actually get off your butt and do something. Get moving, get thinking, start LIVING.
