THIS IS PROBABLY WHY YOU DON’T HIT YOUR MONEY GOALS

When I was first building my business online, I was making over 35k a MONTH before I even noticed. I literally remember sitting down one day to go through my numbers and realising for the FIRST TIME that I’d built a multi-6-figure location free all online business … and I hadn’t even seen it coming.

There’s a lesson here, about how truly successful people work, about how those who are never going to make it work, and about the attitude you need to have to YOUR work if you want to be the former.

I read a GREAT quote this morning, more of a statement, really, but so on point that I had to right away stop reading the article and start writing this, because all I could think was YES.

YES.

That is exactly what happened and how it works and it’s also why I KNOW I will always ALWAYS be successful, at anything I’ve already set my mind to and so much more yet to come.

If you already do this, live like this, do BIZ like this, then good news:

You and I, we’re the same baby! Always gonna own it. NOTHING will stop us. Head down butt up so busy doing the WORK that we almost don’t notice what was building up around us.

Anyway, the statement I read was simple:

“Do the work, move on, repeat. Never look back to see if success is running after you – it never is unless you’re too busy working to notice” (Victor Pride)

The absolute truth of this is so important, yet 99.99% of wannabe entrepreneurs, leaders, creators, yes EVEN IN THIS TRIBE I dare say, will never get it.

They do it the other way.

Take action, look around to see if it worked, spit the dummy when it doesn’t, or else spiral down into some woe is my bullshit about why it works for EVERYONE ELSE BUT NOT THEM and they must not be GOOD enough or COOL enough or SMART enough or LUCKY enough or they’re just DOOMED to FAIL!

Ever entertained that sort of way of thinking? INDULGED in the thinking of unsuccessful people?

Stop it.

Because here is what is true for those of us born to win who ACTUALLY ALSO FUCKING WIN. Side note: bing born to win don’t mean it’s gonna just happen for you. You still have to do the work baby, and you HAVE to have that all in never-say-die and I won’t QUIT till I die attitude.

Anyway.

What is TRUE.

And why this statement resonated with me so deeply.

When I was building my first online business, Woman Incredible, my fitness business, as mentioned at the start of this post, I literally didn’t even NOTICE just how far I’d come for the first several years. I was making over 35k a month before I even remotely acknowledged or absorbed that I had a business almost certainly on its way to a million dollars a year in revenue.

I remember the early stages when things WOULDN’T seem to grow, when my list stayed at 109 subscribers exactly (?!) for 9 freaking months, when I managed to take 26 months to create my first online product (e-book: Secrets of Lasting Weight Loss Revealed, has made me over 50k since then just from a little $27 PDF!), when I was constantly LOOKING for answers and what I should be doing to get ahead.

I remember all the looking and investigating and TRYING to get things working …

And then, after that, for several years, I just don’t really REMEMBER worrying about growth.

Something had flicked, or clicked, and my focus became entirely about creating, content, communication.

I remember day after day speaking with and connecting with my now ever-growing online tribe … basically just hanging out online and talking with and helping and kicking the ass of fellow cool / driven women … women just like me who also happened to want to LEARN from me …

I remember continually being in content and creation mode, always with a new idea I was excited to get out, man, I was often GLEEFUL about getting my ideas out.

It certainly wasn’t about ‘I’ll do this so I can make money’, even though of course I was always vaguely aware of the fact that PART of why I was doing what I was doing was to get ‘rich and famous’ …

I remember spending time in between content and creation mode doing MORE content, always another blog I wanted to write, HAD to write, stuff I just had to say and wanted to read … and if ever my own ideas stymied for a moment, my tribe of gals would have a suggestionf or me!

I remember spending a good amount of time just sharing and breaking down what worked for ME.

“This is how I eat … this is how I train … this is how I do supplementation … etc”

Nearly a decade before I’d ever heard of the concept, and God forbid even before Snapchat told me to, I was just documenting my life.

It was fun.
It was what I genuinely wanted to be doing, all this creating and sharing and hanging out with other badass women online.
It was what I couldn’t NOT.

It just became … my thing. This is what I did, when I wasn’t training a client, or spending time with my partner or by then newborn bub.

It was what I WANTED to do, and it just flowed out of me.

So – I let it flow.

And then one day –

I looked up –

Or sat down, to be more accurate, and looked at the numbers –

And realised:

I’d built a MULTI-6-FIGURE ONLINE BUSINESS.

Head down. Butt up. Not chasing success. Just doing the WORK, on repeat, and then noticing that eventually, while I’d been busy doing what I couldn’t NOT, success had chased and found me.

Now, if you think I’m saying you should ignore money or not set money goals, I’m not. Since that time I’ve actively observed that the simplest way for me to make more money is to ASK for more. Aka: set the goal, align to it, believe it, claim it as done, release – and receive. Read yesterday’s blog (Surrender) for more on HOW to do that.

But here is what I AM saying, and what I absolutely know to be true and continue to LIVE by:

Don’t do what you do in your business because you want it to make you MONEY.

Don’t create, launch, communicate, offer, sell, to hit a NUMBER.

And for the love of God, don’t get into scarcity around why something you CREATED didn’t make you MONEY.

Your MONEY goal is separate to you sitting down and doing the work. This requires trust, and faith, yes. CHOOSE to trust and have faith that when you simply follow what’s within and do the WORK, and do it for its OWN sake and because you can’t NOT, that the money will flow.

If this feels too scary or confusing, let me ask you something:

How’s it working out for you right now, ANYWAY, to try and scare the money into comin’?

Okay then.

I’ve certainly made my share of screw-ups over the years, and I’ve definitely sold stuff ’cause I wanted it to make me money, but when I look back and when I look at NOW, and where my multiple 7-figure income now comes from, I can tell you for SURE:

It’s when I get lost in the work.
It’s when I’m truly doing, creating, sharing, what I’m EXCITED about.
It’s when I let myself show up with content, ideas, offers, I feel almost GLEEFUL about.
It’s when I can’t NOT.

Head down.
Butt up.

And every so often I look up, and realise:

Huh.
I built a motherfucking empire baby.

Cool …

And then?

Always.

Back to the hustle.
Back to creating.
Back to having FUN.
Back to doing, ultimately, what I always wanted to do since forEVER, which is just me being me and letting you know:
