How to Take Massive Fucking Action With Massive Fucking Time Limits
One of the most infuriating feelings in the world – I think! – is to be fired up, motivated and excited about getting your goals off the ground, totally willing to do the WORK, but yet constricted for time to actually do the work!
Going to bed every night knowing that if only you had time you could have changed the world and made millions is pretty suck 🙂
Here are some kick you up the butt light a fire in your belly ways you CAN take massive fucking action on a massive fucking time budget.
Let’s just get this out of the way straight off the bat –
I don’t care whether it’s your kids, your day job, your current business duties, your demanding social schedule or whether you have a nightly must-keep dinner date with Richard Branson, saying you don’t have time for your dreams is BULLSHIT.
If something matters to you you WILL find time for it and you WILL then use that time. Now that we’re clear, let’s talk about the specifics of how –
2. How Early Should You Get Up?
Any achiever worth their salt knows that the mornings are the most effective time of the day to take action on ALL sorts of important shit. Largely because – shit gets done and then it IS already done as you dive into your busy busy day running the world and doing all that important shit that’s stopping you from taking action on the shit that REALLY matters to you. Wink wink.
So – as to how early you should get up? As early as necessary. One of my favourite lines is in a blog post written by James Altucher. Someone says something to him like ‘It’s all very well for James, he doesn’t always have kids’. His answer is GOLD:
“It’s true, kids suck. So get up as early as you need to. If you have to get up at 4am, get up at 4am”.
Oh, so you’re tired, it’s TOO early, you have to stay up late (y’know, for that running the world shit), or you’re just not really a morning person?
Boo fucking hoo. You want results, or you don’t?
Even in half an hour a day, you can over time create something INCREDIBLE to make money, a difference, or to help you live your purpose. Heck even in 15 minutes a day you can, and even in 5! Of course that’s not ideal, but my POINT is that any time invested CONSISTENTLY in your dreams is better than NO time, and it gets you started which is a BIG plus.
What I find though, is that most people swindle away most of the time they put aside to work on a goal. They might put aside an hour for the gym, then turn up 15 minutes late, spend 10 minutes fucking around in the changing rooms, spend at least another 10 of ‘rest time’ checking their phone, then finish 10 early for stretching. In business the same sort of pretend-work behaviour goes on.
When you go to the gym – work the fuck out.
When you turn on your computer – work the fuck out.
Got it?
4. Think Faster
Of course if you’re going to be able to take immediate action like that then you’re going to need to be in the DISCIPLINE of making snap decisions so you can then do the work without dilly-dally. So no, you don’t need to peruse your list again for half an hour before you kick off. No, you don’t need to think about whether you feel motivated. No, you don’t need to start questioning whether your ideas are any good or whether you should go back to the drawing board.
You need to ACT first, and think later. ACTION creates creativity, clarity, and confidence. So just dive in head first and figure out how to swim so you don’t drown.
5. Know Your Shit
It helps to know what matters, what are the key daily tasks that are ESSENTIAL in the attainment of your goal. This way you don’t have to sit there like The Thinker every morning trying to decide how to change the world, you already KNOW what to do because it’s the same thing every day.
For me in business this is 1) get my message out there every morning and 2) offer something for sale (call to action) every morning. Usually the two activities are combined. If I happen to have hours available to work then a ton of OTHER stuff does get done beyond this, but if I only have an hour or even 20 minutes (like today, ’cause I have a photoshoot today! – and btw that’s why I’m writing this post, based on me feeling like a little bitch about having ‘no time’ this morning!!) then ALL I do is message and offer.
Those are the two activities which, if I ONLY did them but I did so day in and day out, WILL make me money and a difference. They are in fact the two activities which have built me this business.
What are YOUR daily musts in your business, for your body, for your life? AND ARE YOU DOING THEM NO MATTER WHAT?
6. Move Faster
Look, it’s pretty simple. If you want to be a MEGA high achiever and accomplish all sorts of cool things in multiple areas of your life you ARE going to have to be a bit of a speed racer a lot of the time. I believe in living to EXTREMES and one of the reasons I produce SO much fucking content and also hit SO many goals across SO many areas of my life – honestly if you see how much stuff I do in a typical day you wouldn’t even believe it, specially given I don’t take excessive amounts of time to do it – is that I move FAST.
I type fast.
I walk fast.
I think fast.
I workout fast.
I eat fast.
I make decisions fast.
I even sleep fast 🙂
And I cannot STAND slow-mo thinking or behaviour, I hate even being around it. I know this isn’t for everyone. Neither is success 😉
Seriously, most of the shit you think you need to take action on, you don’t.
Delete that shit now. Figure out what will actually get you to your goals. COMMIT. Do those things first, always. Shed the rest. Have no idea where to start? Then hire a fucking mentor and get feedback but you STILL gotta take action.
8. Fuel Yourself For Action
Success takes physical and mental excellence.
This does not come about by sitting on your ever-expanding ass eating processed carbohydrates.
That is all.
If you feel like it’s all just going TOO fast and you’re unsure of whether you’re really moving forward or of what you should do with your limited time, do this (and I would do it anyway):
At the start of each day you take 5 minutes – 5! – and you quickly map out the day, loosely time block the tasks and musts, in order of priority. Then, you don’t have to think after that you just ACT.
At the end of each day you take 5 minutes – 5! – and you REVIEW the day and what worked or didn’t work. You also pre-plan for your next day’s map.
10. Think For Success, or It’s Pointless
Ultimately you will not be ABLE to do any of the above if you can’t first think for success. Thinking for succes is a DISCIPLINE and must be approached with serious determination and commitment, like any other sort of training.
It is also ESSENTIAL, as your actions will always be dictated by your mind.
When you know how to think for success you will be able to handle stress, fear, overwhelm, uncertainty, resistance, self-doubt, limiting beliefs, and any other crazy shit your mind throws at you. It won’t matter whether or not things are working yet or that day. It won’t matter what anybody says or thinks, even you. You won’t worry about whether or not you SHOULD. You will just. keep. going. Like The Terminator, you’ll just POWER through with never a question in your mind because of COURSE you’re going to succeed.
This is how I think and it is WHY I am able to act so fast, so effectively, on so much stuff.
