9 BULLSHIT THINGS NEW AGE ENTREPRENEURS THINK MATTER, WHICH DON’T {And What Does!}

The entire online industry is sliding in a hand-basket to hell right now.

The amount of absolute NONSENSE and same-same boring BULLSHIT that is being thrown around the halls of social media is truly mind-blowing, but worse still than that?

The things that people think MATTER? I mean come ON!

I feel like I’m this older-generation dinosaur watching the young upstarts screw up their lives and that no matter what wisdom I or others who actually GET WHAT IT’S ABOUT might share, the young ‘uns are still gonna insist on fucking things up for themselves, thank you very much, and PROPERLY.

So maybe a post like this is a complete waste of my time, or maybe it’s ME who is behind the times and I should start worrying more about having themed days in my Facebook group, a signature piece I’m known for, a PROPER launch sequence or what-the hell ever. Or maybe I’m really just writing it to self-validate, or maybe I know that there are a few people out there who DEEP DOWN KNOW THE TRUTH and just need a kick up the ass to get back to it, or to it in the first place.

If you think that might be you and you secretly kind of HATE all the shit you’ve been told online business is about, listen up:

99% OF WHAT THEY’RE SAYING MATTERS DOES NOT.FUCKING.MATTER AND IS EVEN HURTING YOU.

Also, warning:

This one’s gonna get bitchy. I nearly didn’t write it for that reason. But I AM writing it because God knows I didn’t build MY business by keeping my mouth shut and also because I fucking believe what I’m about to say and I find it sad / infuriating / abhorrent to see how people are wasting their time and money and therefore not MAKING any money let alone effectively branding themselves, with what they’re being taught.

So here we go.

9 BULLSHIT THINGS NEW AGE ENTREPRENEURS THINK MATTER, WHICH DON’T {And What Does!}

Back in the day we built business by actually producing consistent content and talking with our audience, it didn’t matter how your website looked and you sure as SHIT didn’t spend half your social media time bitching about how someone had DARED to talk about money / say fuck / coach without being coach-certified (as if that’s actually a REAL THING anyway!!), etc.

In other words?

Being in business actually meant building a business not trying to be a cool girl in the schoolyard and get invited to the right parties.

Let’s talk about what that looked like, and how it is relevant for YOU.

1. A Title, A Niche, A Topic, An Elevator Pitch, Basically Anything That Defines You Which is NOT You

Your business is you. Your business is you. Your business is you. It doesn’t fucking MATTER what title you give yourself. You do NOT need a pretty and perky little elevator pitch. You don’t HAVE a fucking niche you ARE the niche.

Unless of course what you WANT to build here is not a business or by ANY means a personal brand but instead you want to be known for teaching the A-Zs of a particular tidy little topic. In which case you are a TEACHER not an entrepreneur, not a ‪#‎revolutionaryfuckingleader‬, and CERTAINLY not somebody who is going to ever be remembered for who they are, or get paid accordingly.

2. Fuck Your Pretty Website

Take your pretty website and shove it up your ass. It doesn’t MATTER. It is a BONUS. It is the cherry-on-fucking-top of the fact that you already built a BUSINESS.

That’s it.

Really.

3. Photoshoots

Photoshoots are AWESOME. I freakin’ love having hot photos! But – it’s all just so much fluff and fakery (same as the whole pretty website thing) if you don’t first have a BUSINESS to base it on. Look, much of the stuff on this list is actually REALLY cool and even important (I know, I’m full of contradictions!) but the POINT here is do you have a business, content, results with your clients, the shit that MATTERS first.

So much of the online world now just has it all backwards.

Do what matters first. Then add the fluff if you want it, and uplevel accordingly.

4. Having a Signature Piece

Want to be known for one thing so you can then kick back and internet market your way to fame, fortune and freedom?? Okay so GFL, but also: okay then.

Just don’t try and brand you while also trying to be ABOUT ONE THING.

Unless you’re about being one thing???

4. Being Proudly ‘Anti-Sales’

Just.
No.
Okay?
You’re an entrepreneur. You sell. Swing every fucking day and never be ashamed of that in fact take OWNERSHIP of how boldly and proudly you daily put your offers out there!

5. Facebook Nonsense

Theme days, specially crafted pics that tell the world you’ve made it, rules about what one should or should not say, anything that basically screams ‘I’m a pretty entrepreneur and I fit in here!’.

And when I say pretty?

I mean pretty fucking bland and boring.

6. Finalising a Fucking Colour Scheme, Finalising Anything

YAWN.

And also, okay, honestly? Another contradiction ‘cause I LOVE that I’m now unleveling my brand with fancy colours and such!

NOW THAT I MADE MILLIONS ALREADY.

Again: do first things first. Other things not first.

7. Launch Formulas, Launch Planning, “I Just Birthed a Baby” Bullshit

Oh my God. I can’t even. Like SERIOUSLY: launching is not an ‘I launched a baby’ thing. Having a BABY is like having a baby. LAUNCHING something is NOT a big deal. I mean yay you, it’s awesome. But it’s all in a days work, or a few days work, or even longer, whatever. It’s just getting your WORK out there, stop making it such an emotional hoo-ha.

Be proud of yourself, sure. But stop DRAMATISING, because you make it LESS ATTAINABLE FOR YOU to get out there and explode your awesome ideas fast and with flow the next time. Don’t build SUCCESS up on a pedestal whereby attaining it means you then have to go and crash for 2 weeks afterwards because you just BIRTHED YOUR BABY … um … released an idea and asked for money for it.

8. Posting duplicate shit in every single Facebook group

Really.
Don’t need to.
Talk about.
How AWFULLY desperate.
That looks.

YES?!

And it does NOT work, either.

9. Being Professional

Be you. Be you. Be you.

That’s it!!

— SO WHAT ACTUALLY MATTERS THEN? —

It’s pretty freaking simple, really.

Content.
Value.
Communication.
Showing the fuck UP.
Doing the fucking work.
Hustling your butt off every day.
Asking for the sale. Asking again. Asking yet again, until you get it!

Look, as I’ve said a few times you can DO much of the above stuff (not the FB group spamming, please!!) if you want, and be as pretty and polished as you like.

But it has to be based on something.

Stop getting caught up in the new-age BS of the current online space and why not just start basing your BRAND on the thing it’s supposed to be about?

The real fucking awesome you.

Yeah?
