10 Easy Ways to Make Extra Money In Your Biz THIS WEEK!

10 Easy Ways to Make Extra Money In Your

When I started out online it took me a good couple years before I started making money.  During that time I worked my butt off, spending often up to 40 hours per week blogging, answering comments, commenting elsewhere, responding to emails and (probably half the time at least) brainstorming and daydreaming about ways to build a bigger and more successful blog and business. I do love a good daydreaming session!

Fast forward to now – less than 4 years later – and my one-time pretty basic blog is now a seriously profitable company generating over 100k per month. When it comes to making money online I’ve tried most methods out there and I’ve really learned first-hand what does and doesn’t work.

Of course if I’m honest about why it really took me so long to get off the ground financially in the online world, I can’t really claim it was because I first had to pay any sort of dues or learn any great lessons, but was mainly due to the fact that I didn’t TRY to make money earlier on!

I always had ideas that I’d end up being able to generate some sort of income, but I held off from doing so – at the time I told myself I wasn’t yet ready, had to be more prepared, that my ebook needed to be perfect and contain ALL my knowledge before I released it and that I needed a bigger audience anyway.

In retrospect, and with what I now know about business, I would say all of that is largely BS. Sure, it might be BS with some good reasoning behind it, but it’s BS nonetheless.

The truth is that you can make money in your online business a helluva a lot faster if you actually start asking for it.

I know, crazy ground-breaking stuff, right?!

Anyway – if there’s one take-away point from this post that’s definitely it.

Just start NOW.

But if you do want to get a little more strategic, by all means read on as I share with you the most ‘tried and tested’ methods I’ve found actually work when it comes to ether quick or more long-term cashflow.

The following ideas, if you actually implement and market them, and depending on your audience size of course, can make you anywhere from a few hundred dollars to a few thousands or even tens of thousands – in a matter of days.

Just a little ‘disclaimer’ on the audience size side of things – wherever you are right now is where you are right now, so work with it. Don’t make the same mistake that I made and think you should only start packaging and marketing your message when you have ‘x’ many followers.

Who cares if your first sale is for $10 and it’s your Mum or best friend. It’s a start. And the awesome thing about the online world is that there are no limits but you sure as heck can create them for yourself if you choose to.

So just don’t do that, hmmm?

Start with – and be grateful for – what you have now, and know that by faithfully and consistently putting one foot in front of the other you will progress a hell of a lot faster than if you want until you’re ready.

Sermon over 🙂

Let’s look at how you can make money!

1. Release an ebook:

My ebook income over the past 3 years is in excess of $80,000.

Maybe you can’t get rich overnight with a $17 or $27 ebook but I know I’m pretty happy with where my ebooks have taken me. When I released my first ebook, Secrets of Lasting Weight Loss Revealed, I had only a few hundred subscribers, and I made a grand total of 11 sales on day one, at $37 each. But the beauty of an ebook is once it’s done, you never have to work on it again and it can continue making you money. With barely any attention since 2010 that ebook has now made me over $25,000 and – more importantly – it gave me the confidence and self-belief to go on to create my next ebook, the one after, and then eventually my first ecourse. I didn’t have to use ebooks a stepping stone to now running multi-thousand dollar eprograms but it DID work for me.

The lesson here is really just about taking action.

And let’s be honest – you can absolutely create a great ebook in a few days, so why NOT spend your weekend doing something that will pay you again and again for years to come?

Take action THIS WEEK: Write a full first draft of a short ebook. Edit it. Release it. DOABLE.

2. Create a podcast.

Don’t fancy yourself a writer, or want an even quicker method to getting a product out there? Why not create an educative or inspiring podcast audio between 20 and 40 minutes long? This is literally as simple as recording yourself talking!

Of course it has to be about something that’s interesting to your audience 🙂

I’ve created loads of podcasts over the years – often I talk into my recorder headphones while driving as that’s often when I’m inspired to share something. Sometimes I give them away for free – and sometimes I’ve included them as bonuses in other products or sold them individually, usually for a very low price like $7.

I have 4 really great paid podcasts that took me just minutes to make and that I know have helped hundreds of women, especially my Overcome Emotional Eating one.

Take action THIS WEEK: Don’t over think it – record a podcast today. You can always give it out for free if you don’t think it’s worth charging for … but I can tell you it IS worth charging for.

3. Release a live event.

Some of my largest and in many ways most easily created income has come from events I’ve run, often pulled together in a very last-minute fashion.

Running an event can be scary – and generally EXHAUSTING – particularly if it’s your first one or you’re fairly new to it – but it’s also indisputably one of the most FUN and rewarding ways to engage with your community.

You might think that nobody will come to your event, or perhaps you want to argue that you’re not good at presenting but really – these are just excuses. If you know stuff that other people don’t know, or are able to think in a way that most can’t, then you can run an event.

Feel free to start with a small, limited places event such as a 2-hour workshop or jump straight into a full dayer.

I’ve charged anywhere from $35 up to $497 to attend my events, with the higher prices being for a ‘VIP’ ticket at my full-day events and usually including a ton of bonuses.

Take action THIS WEEK: Just do it! Book your event now and start inviting people!

4. Sell something at the end of your event!

The end of an event, even a short one, is the perfect time to offer new products and services (or existing ones) to your attendees. They’ve had an incredible experience and they WANT to know how else you can help them. Take the pressure of yourself about selling here – all this is about is TELLING people what you have and how it can benefit them. And if it can and if they want it then who are you to not offer it to them?!

Running an event without making an offer at the end of it is just crazy!

Take action THIS WEEK: Start brainstorming beautiful! See point #10 if you really want to end your event with a bang!

5. Don’t want to – or really can’t – run a live event? Run an online event!

When I was in the late stages of my pregnancy recently I promoted an online 3-hour workshop and sold tickets for $57 each with a view to offering my larger program at the end of that workshop. Every single one of my tickets sold within days – I guess people like the idea of not having to go anywhere to attend.

In the end I had to cancel due to pregnancy issues, but you can see how successful and simple this idea is.

Take action THIS WEEK: Write a simple sign up page for an online workshop, hook it up to Paypal, and start selling tickets on FB and via email. Do it NOW.

6. Create a new short course.

Perhaps you have an ebook or a longer program – or even a method you use with your private clients – that people could benefit from having access to in another format. Why not create a 7-10 day short course, where people receive one portion each day in the form of an email or even a video or audio?

You can give them a short training and ‘how to’ each day, and an accompanying action sheet. You could sell this for anywhere from $20 to several hundred or even thousand dollars, depending on YOUR belief in the content and how it will help people.

Take action THIS WEEK: What is your most popular current article, 1:1 service or ebook? Break it down into 7-10 parts and start creating your mini course.

7. Run a coaching special.

Do you have a 1:1 or group coaching service?

COULD you have?

Why not put together a package including a few sessions plus some bonuses and offer each for $1000. Offer only a limited number, for your own time’s sake but also to encourage people to take action. You should also limit how long the offer is available for, for the same reason.

Take action THIS WEEK: Stop spending all your time planning and brainstorming and on Facebook and take action NOW to bring extra money in. Send out personalised email invites, or a group email.

8. Run a flash sale on existing products.

A couple of years ago I needed some quick cashflow overnight so I ran an unplanned and unannounced ‘flash sale’ on my Eating Plan ebook. I offered 10 only at half price, then went to make dinner. When I checked in 20 minutes later I’d sold 17 copies and quickly turned the flash sale off!

It was a great way of doing something special for my community, getting recognition for the book AND I had several hundred dollars extra in my Paypal account. Win!

Take action THIS WEEK: What time of day is your audience most active on social media? Plan and then RUN a flash sale today!

9. Increase your prices!

One of the best ways to make money in your business is to increase your prices on current products or services. Make an announcement via email and Facebook to let people know, and watch them snap it up before the cost goes up.

People often want what you have to offer but put it off – creating a little urgency can work wonders, not to mention the fact that you SHOULD be regularly increasing your rates anyway.

Take action THIS WEEK: Write an explanatory blog post or email telling your peeps you’re putting your rates up and WHY. This is NOT about justifying it’s about valuing your time and your worth. Release the blog or email TODAY.

10. Finally create that online bootcamp or ecourse you’ve been thinking about for so long.

Every entrepreneur should have her own signature program.

All of the previous items (barring perhaps events) are low-end things that are unlikely to ever make you wealthy or financially free. Sure, I’ve made a good amount over the years from ebooks and cheaper items but DAMN have I worked hard to do so and it took a LONG time to see the money.

My Look Great Naked Bootcamp, was a 6-week bikini body online bootcamp, that created over $70,000 in its first few weeks! And my high-end clients netted me several hundred thousand dollars this year alone as well as created some AWESOME new businesses (or improved ones!) already making thousands each month. These programs were HARD WORK to put together – and to run. But also incredibly fulfilling, and they best thing is that once you’ve created it you can run it again and again and still charge a premium price. It’s kind of one of those things you just have to DO, whether or not you feel ready. I recommend you start nutting out your first (or next!) online program right now and set a deadline for when you will begin promoting it.

Take action THIS WEEK: One of the best things about being an entrepreneur is that there are literally limitless ways you can make money by doing what you love and sharing your message. The only ‘catch’ is that if you’re not putting stuff out there, you’re not going to be making money, are you?! So right now I want you to write down the top 3 most appealing ideas from the above list and then I want you to choose just ONE and start taking action on creating it right away.

    Hi Kat,
I love this “One of the best things about being a female entrepreneur is that there are literally limitless ways you can make money by doing what you love and sharing your message.”

My top 3 ideas from your post are release an ebook, run an online event and run a coaching special. I have recently completed my first ebook which I am giving it away free to my subscribers. Completing that book has given me the confidence to write another book and this time it is to sell. Yes I will take action on it straightaway by writing an outline. 🙂

    Thank you for the advice!

My pleasure Cassie. Awesome action-taking, I can’t wait to hear how you go!

PS – maybe once you release your paid ebook, add a page at the end of your free one telling people about it 🙂

Love this list. So informative and confirmation for what I want to do.

I’m working on an ebook as a free opt in offer but after reading this I’m thinking I need to come up w/ a paid ebook. I also want to do an ecourse!

    Thks for sharing this Kat.

    Hey Kat,

What a wonderfully inspiring article! My top 3 ideas are: podcast, e-book and live event. I’m a total newbie at all this (my website is not even live yet) and I was actually slipping into the thinking you described in the beginning – I’m not ready, I have to be more prepared, everything needs to be ‘perfect’. Not good! But after reading this, I’m really keen to start an e-book. Do you or any readers have advice about which software/program to use for a first e-book? I have a PC, not a mac. I’m itching to get writing!

Thank you for sharing all of this!

  4. Tania says:

Great post Kat! Thank you! I like the idea of a e-book. Do you have any layout or recommendations for an easy e-book outline to follow?

  5. Nikki Smith says:

    Pure gold Kat,
Thank you, such a helpful and energising post.
    I am inspired by
    5. virtual event
    7. run a coaching special – to include career change coaching, naturopathy and massage
    9. increase my prices – I’m about to work with a coach for me who is fantastically determined for me to raise my prices. I’ve been tempted to do what you suggest and let people know that my rates will be going up. Having read your description, I will simply get on with it! 🙂

  6. EJ says:

Definitely the e book will be the first thing. I have one already started but the way I structured it means it will take a long time. I think i will do something in the same niche but a different subject. I feel really motivated after reading this 🙂

  7. EJ says:

Hi Kat I am trying to get the recorded webinar sessions as I missed it but I have been sent an email to connect to the webinar. I also clicked for the meditation but not sure what happened after that. Can you please help?

  8. Hey there! I’ve been reading your blog for some time now and finally got the courage to
go ahead and give you a shout out from Lubbock Texas!
Just wanted to tell you keep up the good job!
