I LOVE PEOPLE WHO LOVE WHAT THEY DO!

Over the past few weeks I’ve felt a real shift in what I’m picking up on from people. Maybe I’m just paying more attention, or maybe I’m actively LOOKING for this sort of awesomeness … or possibly I’m just actually lucky enough to be surrounded by it!

— The LA Starbucks Love Story —

I was staying at the “W” Hotel in Hollywood a couple weeks back and doing my morning writing each day at the closest Starbucks, and noticed a VERY unusual and (dare I say) Un-American (don’t crucify me; just based on what I’ve noticed previously in comparison to this!) ‘thing’ going on …

Namely the Starbucks seemed to be some kind of unofficial shelter for the homeless and weary. Person after person clearly off the street was coming in, mostly extremely dirty, unclean, etc, many with obvious injuries or disabilities, and instead of being in ANY way made to feel unwelcome the staff – all of them – were going out of their way to provide free coffee – bottomless – get them a chair and table, offer food, water, even help them in and out of the bathroom or through the door.

This wasn’t a one off thing. I witnessed it over a 3-hour period every morning I was there, while doing my work and it was clearly something the staff WANTED to be doing. Maybe a culture created by the manager of that store? Maybe an LA thing? Although I’ve been in LA loads before and not seen this.

It was pretty powerful. Mostly when I’m at Starbucks I feel like they’re doing me a favour even talking to me.

There was something about being in that atmosphere that made me feel automatically desiring of wanting to give more, connect more, reach out more …

— The Thai Airways “Do You Want Cognac With That” Dude —

Most airline staff are more than polite and courteous; I’ve only had the odd occasion where I’ve been treated rudely, which is saying something for all my years of copious travel!

I recently flew Thai from London through to Bangkok, then Bangkok through to Bali and it was INCREDIBLY noticeable how happy ALL of the staff were on both flights. I don’t know if they drug ’em or if Thai people in general are just extra nice.

They couldn’t have gone more out of their way to make sure everyone was having a good time. It was almost like a part atmosphere on the flight.

I said no to the first meal as a) plane food and b) I’d just eaten at the airport, but I asked for black coffee.

“Only coffee?!” the hostie asked in jesting despair … “are you sure you don’t want some cognac with that?” …

It was 11am so not really … but it was just the WAY he asked like he was having the best time every making a silly joke. It was interesting how I noticed my mood shift instantly upwards because of HIS mood and clear enjoyment of his job, and the general ‘we’re all here to have a good time’ feel continued throughout the flight as well as the next Thai airways flight.

For that reason alone I’d seek out Thai airways again over another airline. (Plus maybe I DO want cognac with my coffee?!)

— Working with my New Mentor —

I’ve been working with a new mentor / business strategist for about 4-5 weeks now. It is a SERIOUS investment with serious results in mind. We’re planning out my multi-million and ultimately 8-figure empire; taking me from my current 7-figs to WAY beyond!

I’m no stranger to serious investments and I’ve ALWAYS benefited greatly from each mentor I’ve worked with.

This time is no exception and what stands out MASSIVELY here is how clearly he LOVES what he does. The level of detail (time / attention / energy / emotion) he has put into going through my business and plans with an almost scary fine-tooth comb has blown me away. There is no freaking way ANYONE would put that sort of effort in if they didn’t absolutely love what they do, and that shows clearly each time we speak. I consider my 12 months investment already recouped and we’re barely beginning.

It’s given me an incredible reminder – one you can never hear too often – DO THE WORK YOU WERE CALLED TO DO!

— The Brisbane Customs Dude —

I spent a single day in Aus last week, flying in and out to do some big picture planning with afore-mentioned mentor, and when I left to fly off to Bali the customs dude asked me what sort of writing I do. I put Writer on my customs forms under work, it makes me very happy to see!

I sort of shrugged him off, mumbling something about motivation, but he pressed me for specifics so I told him in a little more detail; what kind of kickass women I work with and what I write about for them.

He acted like it was the MOST AMAZING THING HE EVER HEARD. I’m not kidding, his eyes widened, he asked me for a few sample catch-phrases, and I gave him one –

“Life is Now. Press Play”

“Wow!”, he said – “Did you come up with that yourself?!”

I smiled demurely (ha, am getting into my story now :)) and walked off and as I did saw him pull the arm of his co-worker and say “listen to this!” and proceed to tell my story like he’d just met The Queen.

Now I’m not kidding myself that it was ME who made his day … this guy was HAVING A GREAT TIME DOING HIS JOB. He was actively LOOKING for things to enjoy or be interested in or excited about.

Have you seen the face on a typical customs officer? Not exactly one of excitement or interest!!

I walked off smiling and feeling REALLY good about myself because of the validation of a total stranger who chose to have a good time doing his work. It made me realise how SIMPLE it is to positively impact on someone’s day.

Every day I am positively impacted by stories I see on Facebook, of my clients, community and friends.

As a snapshot and this is just stuff that come to mind off the top of my head, today alone I watched a TV clip from 60 minutes of my ‪#‎tribe‬ client Clare, I saw a photo my brother Jordan put up of him fighting fires, I spoke in depth with my amazing private inner circle client Rosemary about the incredible value she’s offering for free (and adding to) in her community, I spoke to someone about how proud I am of my client Christine who just blows my mind with how powerfully she owns her message, I connected with some INCREDIBLY kickass women entrepreneurs who I’m brainstorming Mass World Domination with for 2016 and going to be hanging out with soon for the planning of just that, I made a coffee date for later in the week with Regan who I’ve only recently met / come across but who has already shown herself to be one of the LEADING truth speakers on the topic of having it all, I received awesome and quick to the point help from my mentor James, I spoke with Robert about the impact he and Enzo are planning on the nutrition habits and health RESULTS of their 2 Lean Chefs community, I watched a killer video by my client Karen, I PMd with so many people I can’t possibly remember them all, I stole several inspiring pics and memes off various peeps walls (thanks dudes), my business was efficiently and powerfully taken care of by my great team Kelly, Mandy, Sam and Josh; I could NOT do without any of you guys, I read a gazillion inspiring posts of action and pushing through and doing what it TAKES in my free AND my paid groups, I saw my inner circle client Elles reach out to congratulate and encourage her community, I read a VERY cool post from my client Jenn about her first 100k month last month, I saw my client Louise show up for a pretty freaking brain-frazzling RIDICULOUSLY full strategy training I ran even though she is only a few weeks out from giving birth and in the BUILDING phases of her biz …

I could go ON AND ON, and like I said I’m only mentioning the ones that spring STRAIGHT to mind and this is just from today! Oh, and I also read through 60 survey answers from my community which stopped me in my tracks as I realised in a new way the impact I actually have! And also gave me a few laughs.

The POINT of course … and I know I take a LOOONG time to get there … is there is SO MUCH FUCKING AWESOME ALL AROUND.

Choose work you LOVE.

Recognise there will be STRUGGLE and PAIN even for that love.

But know that JOY is a choice, and one you have access to DAILY.

There are so many incredible people in this world. So much good to focus on. So much POWERFUL stuff to learn, all around you.

You get what you look for, and what you expect.

If you’re struggling to EXPECT and therefore GET what you desire, then PLEASE realise that you do have a choice here.
