Be Clear on What You Want. Watch God Do a Thing!

I received some deeply wise counsel today from my pastor and friend, and I want to share a reflection point which I know is not just for me.

We were talking about a particular area of my life where I had gotten myself just a bit too much in the back and forth thinking of my MIND. You know how they say that anybody who is great at selling is also great at being sold TO? Yep, hello, that’s me. I am GREAT at being sold to, and especially by none other than, well, me. I have a unique (although probably not in this audience haha) talent of being able to enthusiastically and whole-heartedly convince myself in one direction whilst in mere moments later being CERTAIN that what is true is the other direction. If left to my own devices I will merrily flip back and forth between opposing arguments playing AND winning both roles simultaneously, fully aware of what I am doing, yet somehow unable to pick a side because I’M JUST TOO GOOD AT ARGUING BOTH.

Ha! Just me? I DON’T THINK SO. I know who I’m talking to 😉

When I do this I KNOW I need to just EXIT STAGE LEFT IMMEDIATELY and wait til I get a SPIRIT check IN my spirit, from THE Holy Spirit. The thing with that is though … we still have to be open to hear and receive. You gotta get off the crazy thinking train! And sometimes we just need to turn to someone CAREFULLY chosen to help us to do that. I am so blessed and in so much gratitude to God that He has surrounded me with some many godly women (and men!) and He gives me the discernment to know who to seek such counsel from.

There’s nothing worse than a whole bunch of random opinions, no matter how much the people who give ’em may love you, to poke all sorts of holes in promises God has given you or simply to MISDIRECT YOU by virtue of how THEIR spirit is lead.

Just a reminder.

Here is the reflection point:

“What is the standard God has put on YOUR heart around this Kat?”

Boom.
And boom.
And BOOM, right there.

You know how some things just jump out at you? The Holy Spirit quickens them to you? Such a simple statement, and yet – so much punch.

In business, I can tell you that for the very most part any WAY-LAID time I have spent … veering off track of my path of true alignment and simply KIDDING myself that I was okay with doing or accepting or giving PIECES of me to a thing when in actual fact I was running scared that I HAD to do that thing ‘or else’ … was always a simple matter of not being clear on exactly what I want and believe should be, and then?

HOLDING THE LINE FOR THAT AND THAT ALONE.

Now ‘that and that alone’ can of course be a thing which shifts and changes for each of us as we walk further into God and His designs for us. You may well have your own fixed ideas for how your business should look … where money should come from … how YOU should look / be … or how any part of your life SHOULD flow …

and that doesn’t mean it’s what God has for you. His ways are higher than ours, as are His thoughts, and He certainly has a dream for us beyond what we could FIND in our own mind or self-without-Him.

This is why we HAVE to find our desires in God. A few weeks ago He prompted me to start praying “rearrange my desires to make them of you”. Again, BOOM. I loved and love this so much! It makes it so EASY! Well, easy so long as I just get up and fix my eyes where they belong every day, rightly on Him and handing over willingly all that I COULD choose outside of that!

IT’S ALWAYS EASIER TO JUST GIVE HIM EVERYTHING, WITH THE TIMEFRAME SIMPLY BEING – FOREVER.

You’ll save a lot of time that way 😉

So yes. Let’s not confused about ideas of our OWN fixed wants or standards or fleshly cravings when the desires we WOULD have in God WILL simply be …

better.
TRUER.
And right.

And let’s also not TAKE those true desires which God rightly puts on our heart and then DECIDING WE MUSTA HEARD WRONG.

“Oh, maybe I am okay with this adjustment after all”.

“Maybe it DOESN’T have to be THAT all in”.

“Maybe I SHOULD just >>> insert compromising action you swore you were done with <<<, I need things to get moving”.

Aha! DO YOU NOW?

‘kay, so you’re now gonna TAKE OVER FROM A VISION A PROMISE A DREAM A PROPELLING GOD GAVE YOU and just … do it for Him? kk. Sounds smart … NOT.

The thing is … God has SO MANY DOORS HE WANTS TO OPEN IN YOUR LIFE.

As I keep saying – if YOU open a door, you’re gonna be the one who has to keep it open. Pretty soon you’re gonna hate or just be SOUL drained and SPIRIT flat by that door so bad you never wanna have to look at it again! So I think we can ALL get behind the knowing that we best be leaving door opening to God.

But CHECK THIS OUT:

God opening a door or showing you a possible door is SO exciting. SO exciting that when we then don’t see Him bringing things through that door in what WE consider to be a tidy or timely fashion we mayyyyybbbbeee (just me again?!) might start thinking to ourselves at times that perhaps he NEEDS OUR HELP.

“Let me just go get a bunch of stuff you never told me to get Lord, which YOU were NOT bringing through that door, and not only bring it TO the door in case you want to grab it from me and heave it through, but, hm, let me just fling it through the door myself. There. Isn’t that better?!”

Desire –
WHAT GOD WROTE FOR YOU –

Ba-bom.

NO IT’S NOT BETTER! It is you returning to the OLD, instead of letting Him do a new thing! (Isaiah 54:18-19).

Forget the old! It’s gone! BURNED BABY, BURNED. Isn’t that what you wanted? And don’t you LONG for a new thing, and to finally not be the one making things work … except that didn’t really work?

PHEWWWWWMAMMA it’s not easy. Don’t think for a second I am saying it is. I wanna scream and shout and let it ALL out sometimes with this stuff.

But then again …

If I just keep getting up each day
And giving Him my ALL in every way
And surrendering that I should ever HAVE my way

it’s actually freaking easy.

Trust God. Seek Him first. Hand it over. And WAIT TIL YOU’RE TOLD TO DO THINGS IF AT ALL. Or, to put it another way –

become who He shows you you are.

Wanna know the best bit?

HE WILL WORK THAT THROUGH YOU AND YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO DO THE BECOMING.

He’s just waiting for you to stop flapping doors all over the place 😉
