THEN SHE JUST DECIDED TO BE CERTAIN
The toughest thing my private clients invariably go through is the wrangling of their beliefs and expectations to match what their spirit is telling them is TRUE.
It never fails to astonish me that the most purpose-driven, typically already successful (yet watch out next level it is TIME) and seemingly confident and tapped in women are also the ones who MOST often question themselves, and tear themselves down.
If I were framing this as a positive thing I’d say it’s because we simply refuse to be static. We don’t have it in us. Which means we question, and pick, and pull apart, and chuck in the blender before pulling out and peering at suspiciously then tossing in a boxing ring to see how well it bears up basically … EVERYTHING.
Yes we will do it to you too, if you’re fortunate enough to walk into our lives. ESPECIALLY closely so. You’re welcome.
We tend to do this even with the stuff we were initially CERTAIN about. Maybe ‘just to be sure’. Or maybe (positive framing!) because so doing results in the fact that we ARE the ones who end up with the life … business … purpose work … beyond imagination and ONLY a supernatural thank you LORD sort of a thing.
The flip-side is, of course, the continual.Freaking.Thinking. And the fact that uncertainty?
Can become a habit and even a crutch.
We can be the most certain and firing on all cylinders person in the hemisphere one moment,
and then questioning EVERY SINGLE THING WE EVER THOUGHT OR KNEW in the next.
For those who I am blessed to mentor and in any way coach, one of the MOST continual conversations, in and amongst all the inevitable doing and creating of REALLY REALLY COOL STUFF, is the one where “yes you ARE really meant to be that person, and yes it IS a done deal; just keep on walking forward!”
What we’re really talking about of course is being willing to BELIEVE who God says you are.
As I was walking this morning, I started to note down things God was speaking into my spirit for you. For me. For ALL of us extraordinary and driven ‘too much’ women. Who God has made EXTRA extra for a reason!!
Things like –
“Time to quit the overthinking”
“Is a lack of certainty your crutch, and the thing you delight in?”
Obviously nobody would SAY they delight in a lack of certainty, but where your heart is … there your treasure is also (Matthew 6:21), and when we delight in the LORD, He gives us the desires of our heart (Psalm 37:4) so I would say it’s worth working out what you do delight in and handing that over!
Guess what else I heard?
“God does not want you to live a toned down life! He MADE you to be extra. He has called you to walk free. SAY that He is with you and walk forward boldly, rather than questioning everything and turning in circles!”
“Just be my daughter. It’s not what you do or do not do which matters. It’s the place it comes from and what you are MAGNIFYING. What you are putting your hope in. The reality is you can even put your hope in something I myself gave you! So it is NOT about what the ‘thing’ is”.
What this all led me to realise is something I have taught on too many times previously to count.
Which is that you will be EXHAUSTED if you are not pressing play at whatever it is YOU came here to press play at.
God did NOT call you to live a toned down life. He came here for you to be the gloriously, in and for HIS glory, over the top, extra, sees and knows and believes in the impossible, person you are. The unapologetically extra one who IS going to live a different life because WHY WOULD SHE NOT!
I can tell you that right now I have private clients who are babes in their current business endeavour, and ones who are doing up to and even over half a million $ a month, and with EACH of them there is a conversation around ‘can I really have or do or be that?’.
I have mentored the best of the best in and outside of the coaching industry for years, and ZERO of my most famous, wealthy, and purpose-driven clients have ever graduated from the experience of being human. Which, if you are ‘this’ kind of a human means … THEY STILL FREAKING QUESTION THE NEXT OR NOW LEVEL.
Through it all, for over 2 decades now that I’ve been mentoring and coaching high performers, nearly 2 of those decades online, the #1 thing which STILL changes the game for my clients is – “yes. You really can do that, and it really can be that simple”.
PERMISSION.
For years now it’s what I’ve said is one of the top two things which holds women like us back from being who we were meant to be.
(The other one is thinking you need to be more clear. You do not. Carry on NOW with certainty. God made you this way!)
I think it’s in our nature as high performers to turn in circles. Question. Wonder. Second guess ourselves. Play small and also wrestle with whether maybe we ARE dreaming if we think it can be that easy.
But in the end, you know what makes the change?
Then she just decided to be certain.
Then she just decided to DO the thing or things, and stop making it ABOUT the thing or things.
Look.
I mentor and coach women of FAITH, to walk in even greater faith to be who God designed them as, and to be RIGHTLY led in what they do and create.
The thing with being led by God is,
IT’S A POSTURE OF YOUR CITIZENSHIP OF HEAVEN.
Not something you’re meant to try and figure out.
So put your supernatural goggles on.
Hand over ALL the thinking.
Declare you ARE led by the Spirit of God if you know you are.
And?
DO THE THINGS IN FRONT OF YOU, WITH FULL CERTAINTY AND CONFIDENCE OF A HOPE WHICH IS IN HIM AND THE FACT THAT HE WILL BLESS YOU AS YOU WALK FORWARD.
Not as you stand still and angst over every step you don’t then quite take before you don’t quite take it.
